Google's New AI Experiment Syncs Your Moves With Images

Google is showing off the fun side of artificial intelligence with a slap-up experiment dubbed Movement Mirror, which finds images on the spider web based on your movements.

Here'south how it works: head over to the Motion Mirror site, plough on your webcam, stand up back so your whole body is in the frame, and start moving. As you wiggle around, Move Mirror matches your movements to images of people doing similar poses. You can even utilise Move Mirror to make a shareable GIF, if you like.

Google congenital the experiment using PoseNet, a model that tin can find humans in images and videos past identifying 17 points in the face and body, including the ears, eyes, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles, and nose.

"Motility Mirror takes the input from your camera feed and maps it to a database of more than than eighty,000 images to find the best lucifer," Google Creative Lab Technologist Irene Alvarado explained in a Thursday web log mail service. "With Motion Mirror, we're showing how estimator vision techniques like pose interpretation can be available to anyone with a reckoner and a webcam."

Worried that Google will log your every motion when you use Move Mirror? Don't be. The experiment is powered by Tensorflow.js, a library that runs machine learning models in your browser.

"The pose interpretation happens directly in the browser, and your images are not existence stored or sent to a server," Alvarado wrote.

This new experiment comes after Google in January added a similar computer vision-powered confront match feature to its Arts & Civilization app that proved to be quite popular. That feature compares your selfie to thousands of historical artworks to encounter if any wait similar you.
